The Tunnel

nophotoavailable.jpg

UPDATE: The Tunnel is sometimes open, sometimes not. It’s been this way for a few years now. For the latest After Hours updates check out the Farang Speaks 2 Much blog.

It was billed as the next “in” club but given its location it turned into an after-hours club only. A little bit hipper crowd than most of the other after-hours joints, real DJs but pricier drinks. Known to stay open until 5:00am but can also frequently get shut down at a moments notice. Tuesday is Ladies night and and a great time to go fishing. Rammed on Fridays and Saturdays with too many guys. Known to attract the member club girls and the freelancers who may not frequent the Spice(y)s venues.

Used to be the spot to go to, over a year ago i would have given this venue a solid 5. I was there in April 2009 and on two nights that i went it was a dead fish… music is still solid but apart from the gang of lady boys there, there was no talent.

On the positive you did have the whole dance floor and good music but what fun is that if there are no ladies around.

The space layout is quite good, tables on the outside of the club a decent dance floor and 2 bars. Not a big place but enough space to have a good time.

BTW I headed over to Bossy & Spicy after spending a solid hour hanging with the staff of Tunnel because it was that dead, both venues had a good crowd but shitty music.

I’ve been there a few times in late 2007, it was off the hook and I love it. but when I return in March 2008, I tried there 2 or 3 times, but it was not open. Was it just my bad luck, or is the place not open? I tried to go around 10/11pm. If u have better info and post. [Editor’s Note: This place has been opened and closed many times over the past few years. For the latest updates in After Hours, please check out the Farang Speaks 2 Much Blog]

Definitely one of the best options right now for After Hours. They’ve managed to stay open which is key and are really packing the place in.

It’s definitely not for everyone since it’s not always easy to pull a decent looking bird and it’s filled with a bunch of people full of themselves. The club is usually loaded with young guys and the girls seem to hold out trying to land one (best to wait til around 5am when they start getting desperate). Many of the girls are p4p and looking for guys that are young, like to party, and can pay. There are also non-p4p girls who usually hit this place after RCA, some after work G-club girls, and a smattering of Ladyboys so it’s quite the mixed bag.

The music is house and the decor is stylish and kind of cool. Best to go on the weekdays and it usually gets going around 3:00am. It’s not as slutty and freelancer-rich as Spicy and Spice but it’s unique and nice to have open.

One of the best after-hour joints that Bangkok currently has to offer. The music is usually good and can be great depending on the DJ. When the place first opened back in late 2006, it wasn’t a place you would find many FL’s, but nowadays, especially on the weekends, there are quite a few working girls in there.

The weekends usually see too many tourists and it can get claustrophobically crowded. The weekday nights are usually great, as alot of girls that have a day off, wanna go party and possibly hang out with a farang can be found here. As previously mentioned though, not all the girls are working girls, so a bit of sensitivity can help you avoid some embarrassing moments.
