A 2-floor GoGo in Nana Entertainment Plaza. One of the hottest GoGo’s consistenly putting out a nice lineup. The music is also pretty good usually. Service and the mamasans however have bad reps so watch your tab.

Getting There: Take BTS to the Nana Station. Walk towards Soi 4 and then make a left on Soi 4. Nana Entertainment Plaza will be on your left across from Nana Hotel. Take the escalator (which never works) or the elevator on the right to the 2nd floor. Mandarin entrance is to the left of Mandarin Table Dance directly in front of the elevator and escalator.

    Went here a couple of times most recently on Buddha’s birthday.
    Place itself was ok, first visit me and a mate were basically the only 2 in there and had a drink with a couple of cuties and left.
    2nd time I was enticed in by a lovely hostess outside who I proceeded to bar fine and have a cracking night with, so maybe I opinion of the place is heavily influenced by that experience.
    I went upstairs both times and would give it average marks.

    Mandarin has got to be the pits of Nana. The disgusting orange/red decor is a dismal eyesore, the mamasangs are pushy beyond extreme. Never, in many years of living in Bangkok have I encountered a more shiite bar. Some of the girls are nice, most are just pushy. The service staff too are way too pushy. The owner is well known for fleecing the girls so you cannot blame them if they try too hard. A farang was beaten up in the toilets by the security staff on New Years. Thhis place is the pits. Avoid at all costs.

    I have checked this bar out quite regularly and initially I found it average, as per the previous reviews, but lately I have been looking closer and having a good time. Granted, the mamasan here is quite overbearing and before I knew it, I was getting a neck and head massage. It wasn’t too bad, but I felt like a twat whilst staring at the girls on stage while my face was getting massaged like putty. At least she didn’t charge me.

    To get there, head up the escalator in NEP and avoid the onslaught of Thai sprukers trying to herd you into their bars. Look for Mandarin GoGO - its at 12 o’clock as you get off the escalator and you have to go up a flight of stairs. The bar itself looks like a knockoff from Baracca in Soi Cowboy, complete with revolving disco balls, and see-through ceiling with pantyless thai babes in sailormoon outfits upstairs, but done on the cheap (only on Fri/Sat). But I met a Canadian ex-pat Bangkok 8yr veteran named Phil who assured me that Baccara actually ripped Mandarin GoGO’s idea off.

    After becoming somewhat of a regular here, I’ve found I’m being treated pretty good. I don’t get fucked around by mamasan and the waitresses give me big smile. I even met a dancer here who used to work in Baccara, but came to NEP because she wasn’t having any fun. I’ve NEVER heard of that before. They usually migrate to Cowboy. The girls here are pretty good, just get in early. I barfined a particularly smoking hostess from here who I would give 9/10 and I don’t mean the a pack a day variety. It’s on my list for gogo bar crawling in NEP, or when I’m fucked up and it’s the witching hour at 1:30am, just before the walk of shame…

    Since my glowing review in February I’d say Mandarin has suffered a downturn, but by no means do I think it has collapsed to a 1-star rating. I was in around 11 pm over the weekend and the slender young girls upstairs were still having fun, still dancing topless and still dancing with no knickers. Downstairs was as ‘average’ as it always has been. One little girl (#34) was 40 kilos of pretty packed into an hourglass shaped package. Still in the top 50% of Nana go go bars in my opinion, but no longer in the top 3.

    I popped into the Mandarin lastnight to check it out and quickly walked out. There were a handful of girls dancing. Maybe 6 or 7, several more were on the sidelines sitting down. I quickly did an about face and started exiting to which the mamasan extolled “Where are you going, the Mandarin is the best gogo in Nana” I shot back, “Have you ever been to the other gogo’s in Nana?” And made my departure. In fairness I stayed all of about 5 seconds but I knew enough that this wasn’t where I wanted to hangout so I can’t comment on the service provided etc. The women that were there were not of the highest caliber to put it gently. This could have just been an offnight.

    I liked this bar in the past, but on this trip the aircon wasn’t working well and the mamasans wouldn’t leave me alone when I just wanted a few minutes to cool off before picking a girl. Some decent talent on stage and nice-enough girls, but the in-your-face mamasan killed the atmosphere for me.

    Worst. Bar fine. Ever. I guess you can’t fault the bar itself for an epic level poor pull, but what can you do, since this is the only bar I’ve ever pulled from where she wound up puking in my hotel room, dropped her phone in toilet so it wouldn’t work, couldn’t remember her friends phone number, said she was having heart pains and called an ambulance to take her to the hospital. Since I’m not the single biggest jackass in the world I went with her. Guess what? It was gas.

    If I could rate it at negative one billion, I would.

    M liked the holes in the chair. T has been going there many times over several years and enjoys going there still, but was better in the past. B didn’t like the chair holes. The girls have a great time there and the atmosphere is great.

    Love Mandarin!

    Haven’t had the issues with mamasans others have cuz I blow them off. Energy and music are usually great, very upbeat.

    I’ve had consistently good hookups here and of all types. ST/LT, menage, lesbo. Usually my first, and often only, stop in NEP.

    In October 2007 this was my favorite go go. The vibe upstairs was off the hook, and the overall feel of the place was upbeat.

    Some other go gos have slipped ahead of Mandarin to move it out of the #1 spot on my list, but I still reckon it belongs in the Bangkok top ten. The energy of the place seems to have fallen off slightly over the past three months, and the level of nudity has been cut back a bit.

    But that just means that it’s fallen from an A to a B- in my book. I visit this go go several times per month, and I was in there just two days ago. If it wasn’t good, I wouldn’t keep going back.

    Despite some of the stories regarding security guard hell - Mandarin is my fav go-go right now in NEP. Good music, high energy dancing by the half naked girls, no undie girls dancing on the second floor that u can see through the glass and generally a very nice staff.

    Any go-go can have an off night but I find mandarin to be fairly consistent as of late but sometimes the showing comes and goes based on the whims of the police. That is nana.
